Jackie is often seen hiking with Billy, her black Labrador, along Sonoma County trails where nature provides a canvas and inspiration for her writing .

She is equally at home in nature, the classroom, her studio or on stage.

Ms. Jackie (as her students call her) is an active Poet-Teacher for California Poets in the Schools (CalPoets) and passionate about enchanting students through poetry.  She has seen how “one line can change a life” and encourages students to find their own voices.

 

Jackie recently served as President of the Board for CalPoets, an organization she joined in 2001. CalPoets was founded in 1964 and remains one of the largest literary arts organizations in the country.
